WHAT'S HAPPENING?

The Sports Carnival was held on 13th April 2013 and 14th April 2013. It was a program under the Educational Festival 2013. The Program Manager for this program was Sister Amira Husna who is the third year student in TESL Course. The best thing was it involved all of the INSTED (Institue of Education), IIUM’s students. Every student will get their colour of their sport’s house and they can represent their sport’s house in any games provided. Some of the games that were available at those days were futsal, netball, volleyball, basketball, badminton, athletic, telematch, and table tennis. It was very convenient for the students as it was held in Female and Male Sports Complex. So, they can just go there easily. The highlight of the day was prizes and medals were given to the winners. Moreover, the best athlete was Nas Idayu (Yellow Team) and Wan Hasbullah (Green Team). Plus, the overall best team was the Blue Team. The closing ceremony was held on Sunday and was done by Dr. Johdi.

TRADITIONAL GAMES

This was a brilliant idea of BEDSA because of organizing such an interesting event which is the Traditional Games. With the tagline, “You do miss your childhood games, don’t you?”. I believe everyone misses their childhood experience and deep inside their heart, they wish to turn back in time and become a kid once again. So, with this program, it did attract a lot of students to participate. Everyone wanted to show their own talent and some of them might do not know certain games, so they would love to give it a try. It was held in Edu Square, IIUM on 8th of April 2013 until 11th April 2013. The interesting traditional games that were provided at that time were Congkak, Ceper, Galah Panjang, Batu Seremban and Teng-Teng. Basically, all of them are Malay traditional games. The Program Manager was Sister Aisyah. From the students’ response, everyone was so happy and excited because they got to know the Malay traditional games. On top of it, some of them won the games that they have never knew before.

WATER CONFIDENCE

On 24th March 2013, BEDSA organized a program called Water confident that was held at Maryam Lake, IIUM. There were 90 participants that were from INSTED itself. 21 committees who have helped a lot in this program have been selected by the Program Manager who was Sister Awanis. The best part was it was compulsory to the all third year students of INSTED. This is because if they did not join, they cannot be graduated from their course. So, it was so fun and exciting that day as everyone really enjoyed this program. They had to go kayaking and had to line up in a line. The students who were at the front line had to exchange their places by walking on the ‘kayak’ to the very end kayak. It was really interesting to see that part. This program was held from 8 am until 11 am. The additional bonus for this program was star points will be given to all participants.
